Sheryl Green is the Director of Communications at Hearts Alive Village, a nonprofit organization in Las Vegas, Nevada. This rescue was formed as a response to the intense need to help save dogs and cats from losing their lives in an overcrowded shelter system.
COVID-19 has had crippling impacts on Las Vegas and despite it all, Hearts Alive Village has continued operating adoption centers, a pet food bank, a soon to be veterinary clinic, and finding other creative ways to meet the needs of their community.
HAV focuses on the animal and human relationship to enrich the lives of both. They encourage owner retention by providing options and support for those considering surrendering with such programs as behavioral classes and food assistance for pets of low income families, also building backyard shelters for outdoor animals to improve their quality of life.
They are developing comprehensive humane education programs for children of all ages to enrich their capacity for empathy and kindness and empower them to become more involved citizens. A lasting and sustainable change is possible if we all do our part to support the momentum of the no kill movement!
