GivingTuesday happens every year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and is often known as a global day of giving. This year on November 28th, 2023, nonprofit organizations from all over the world rely on this day to help raise awareness and spread generosity. GivingTuesday is also known as “#GivingTuesday” for the purpose of hashtag activism on social media.
Whether it’s supporting your local rescue or shelter, helping a stranger or a neighbor, or even showing some love to a furry friend in need, every act of generosity counts, and everyone has something to give.
History of GivingTuesday
According to GivingTuesday.org, this day began in 2012 and started as a simple idea: “a day that encourages people to do good.” GivingTuesday was born and incubated at the 92nd Street Y and its Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact located in New York City. In July of 2019, GivingTuesday became it’s own organization, led by GivingTuesday co-founder and CEO, Asha Curran. Because of Asha, many nonprofit organizations look to GivingTuesday to reach a larger audience of supporters.
Why Do Nonprofits Engage on GivingTuesday?
GivingTuesday presents so many opportunities for nonprofit organizations. Because the general public are now aware of this global generosity movement, may even set aside funds each year dedicated to supporting their favorite nonprofits by highlighting their missions, help solicit donations, and, most importantly, grow their community.
GivingTuesday Promotion
This GivingTuesday, let’s come together to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the furry friends at the Houston Humane Society! The chilly winter months are approaching, and we’re thrilled to announce a special partnership. CUDDLY pledges to implement a buy one, GIVE one initiative for Houston Humane Society.
For every blanket you donate, CUDDLY will contribute an extra blanket to ensure that our animals stay cozy and warm. Houston Humane Society sees a constant flow of animals in need, and with your support, we aim to provide each and every one of them with the comfort they deserve.
Your contribution can make a significant difference in the lives of these animals. Imagine the joy and warmth your donated blanket will bring to a furry friend in need. With GivingTuesday just around the corner on November 28th, let’s rally together and see how many blankets we can gather for the Houston Humane Society.
More Ways to Help
Because CUDDLY is a fundraising and wishlist platform dedicated to supporting animal nonprofit organizations, we have many partners looking towards the generosity of others to help support their mission and save more animals in need. Below are a few GivingTuesday campaigns that are in desperate need of support. Together, we can save lives.
- Southern Nevada Animal Rescue League (SNARL) is reaching out to our incredible community for support that will change lives. Currently, they have 65 furry friends still searching for their forever homes. These are animals longing for the warmth and love that a home provides. However, due to unforeseen challenges, they’ve had to close their intakes, limiting their ability to rescue more animals in need.
Our goal is to open fully to intakes again by the New Year, and with your support, we can make this happen! This GivingTuesday, your generosity ensures a warm shelter for our furry friends during the Holidays and paves the way for their brighter future. - Support DallasDogRR as this past year has been a relentless struggle. They’ve faced challenges that forced them to make heart-wrenching decisions, like having to limit their intake of animals due to financial constraints. The reality is, there are animals with extreme needs that they are unable to rescue simply because they lack the necessary funds to provide them with the care they deserve.
As you contemplate your GivingTuesday contributions, we implore you to consider Dallas DogRRR. Your donation will not only help us reopen their doors to those in desperate need but will also enable them to continue their lifesaving work. - Better World Rescue is dedicated to caring for & rehabilitating animals from high-kill shelters who are in need of immediate medical attention and behavioral training. As we approach the giving season, please help them give these lonely, suffering souls the gift of a full belly and a warm place to rest their heads.
- Greenwalds Service has encountered cases of wicked and vile abuse so horrendous it is beyond anything we could have imagined in even our worst nightmares. However, as the need for their services seems to be ever-increasing, donations and adoptions are at a critical low, leaving them scrambling to find a way to provide these desperate pups in need with the care they deserve. Please help us continue to save the lives of animals and Veterans in need by making a contribution.
The Point
GivingTuesday is a day that encourages people to open their hearts and “give.” It introduces nonprofit organizations with the chance to raise necessary funds, exposure, and awareness, which is why many organizations create custom GivingTuesday campaigns to participate.
