You probably heard about the winter storms that have affected communities across North America. In some cases, these storms have left families and their pets without food, shelter, and even power. The effect these snow storms have can be deadly and cause serious turmoil in the lives of so many. Tons of states are suffering and the Grande Valley in Texas was recently among the many that have been hit hard.
When the storms hit the community Palm Valley Animal Society serves, families were left to wonder how to care not only for themselves, but for their furry best friends as well. Having to worry about your home, yourself, and the many obstacles that come along with surviving the winter storms is hard enough, thankfully PVAS has services that can provide support during these tough times.
Palm Valley Animal Society works tirelessly to ensure that no pet, whether in a home or in their shelter, goes without, and that included keeping them warm and safe through the storms last month. Through their pet food pantry program, they provided food and essential supplies for the animals of their community and continue to be a huge support system for the families who may not know where their pet’s next meal will come from.
In an effort to continue growing their impact, the Palm Valley Animal Society teamed up with CUDDLY Pet Pantry, connecting with donors looking to support families and ensure no pet goes without care. This partnership was critical during this unstable winter storm, but will also serve the Rio Grande Valley community on an ongoing basis. They are working every third Saturday of the month to run their drive-thru pet food pantry to benefit struggling families with pets, helping to ensure families like Omar’s can stay together. Omar is the proud dog dad to eleven dogs who love him as much as he loves them. At times, it can be difficult to make ends meet and ensure his whole family is cared for – which is where Palm Valley’s support comes in. Keeping Omar’s family together, at home, is not only an incredible achievement for the staff who provide these services, but helps the animal care staff focus on the animals inside the shelter, who truly have no other options.
Palm Valley Animal Society is a 501c3 non profit organization located in southern Texas and is the only full service, open admission, animal intake facility in Hidalgo County, caring for over 30,000 animals annually. Help them make a difference by making a small donation towards their mission or by donating a much needed item off their wishlist to benefit a pet in need. With your help, it can not only help change a life, but it can help bring a family closer together.
