It takes a truly special person to step up and transform neglect, injury, and illness into a story a hope, redemption, and love. Today we are celebrating these veterinary heroes. Those who have the strength to face loss and the gentleness to nurture the tiniest of creatures.
Below are some special shoutouts by animal rescues to the medical professions. Those individuals who have played an instrumental role in rescue’s work and the lives they care for.
DR BRYAN LANGLOIS OF THE PET PANTRY OF LANCASTER COUNTY
SUBMITTED BY ONE DOG AT A TIME ODAAT
Dr Bryan is not just a Veterinarian. He is a down to earth, compassionate… passionate man who takes his work extremely seriously and life with a smile. He will save an animal at any hour of the day and has many, many times for our rescue.
Together we have been able to save dozens, if not hundreds of animals that would have never received vet care, because their owners could not afford it. We trust his opinion over that of all others. He will never say he knows something if he does not.
He has been a resource for animals cruelty cases, testifying on behalf of the animal based on facts, not assumptions. He has helped our organization by testifying in court, which in the end dealt the perpetrator with much deserved jail time.
He raises money for several rescues because he values what we do. He is always up for a quirky fundraiser, like living for days in a crate or a barn, just to help raise funds for animals in need. He is an outstanding man. We are humbled by his generosity to give of himself and his time. He deserves so much and yet asks for nothing in return.
He is my Hero.
Sincerely, Kari Coble President of One Dog at a Time ODAAT.

Burbank Veterinary Clinic
submitted by At-Choo Foundation
Burbank Veterinary Clinic, by faaaaar has the most caring and smartest staff I’ve encountered and I’ve been ‘around the block’ with different vets.
Dr Burpee is whip smart and catches on to every detail about any dog I’ve brought in, knowing how to ‘put the puzzle’ together to figure out what is wrong and what to do about it. She cares deeply in a way I’ve never seen another vet care.
When I brought in a dog (not a new patient) who was elderly, and the dog tried to bite, she knew something was wrong, because she knew that dog never bit. So when she did the dental that was the cause of the pain, hence, the biting, she called the minute it was done to let me know everything went well. and she might have a few more grey hairs, since the dog also had a heart condition. That meant the world to me that she called so quickly and we both could celebrate it going well.
The nuances of an animal is information for her and even just randomly chatting, she will draw out info about the animal. When a dog I had brought in had lost weight (I hadn’t noticed because he was so furry), she came out to me and told me how her heart hurt. I thought she meant her actual heart, but she was saying that she was so worried, that her heart hurt for the dog and she jumped on what could possibly be causing this to happen.
There was a time when I had an 18 yr old dachshund who needed to depart for heaven. The staff drew a heart on the wrap that had the IV in her. Those details matter. I was there from 5pm till 10pm (4 hours past closing) just talking about animals while I held Pizza Bunny. She has the view, and I’ve heard this from others, that the soul doesn’t leave the body completely for around 30 minutes, so I hugely appreciated the relaxed, caring and well, interesting time I spent there for this experience. Her ‘job’ is not her ‘job’, it is her passion and it shows. she has humor, compassion and wisdom.
Just another example of how she is – when she knows a dog who always barks in the back with staff and it doesn’t bark, others might think, oh yeah, finally quiet. However, she knows something is wrong. It’s not just numbers and medicine to her, it’s nuances, her intuition and communication. I will never go to another vet – unless she thinks i should. I trust her completely with any animal I bring in. She is family at this point and so is all the staff. They are thrilled for me for good news and show compassion when the news is not.
It takes a lot to deal with both humans and animals and this clinic excels in all areas!

Prida Animal Nation, Laura de la Prida, DVM
submitted by Partners-4-Paws
Many times we’ve taken tiny puppies or kittens to her with questions or concerns, she will take her time, examine them then tell us “No Charge”. When there is a charge, she offers rescues a real break. Often she will see our fostered animals for no charge office visits.
She always has a smile on her face and you can tell she truly loves the animals. We would be lost sometimes without her.

From the day they opened they have been helping our rescue cats and kittens and our feral and community cats. The staff are compassionate and knowledgeable. Dr. Nallapaneni is always available and willing to help us in our mission.
The fact that they will work with community cats that are feral/semi feral is a blessing and our rescue has been able to help many more cats!

Dr. Demian Bullock and his team at Ulysses Veterinary Clinic
submitted by Animal Rehoming Cairns and Tablelands District
Dr. Demian and his team, as well as being wonderful, caring vets and vet nurses, have several rescue groups who rely on them to vet all their rescue pets. Without Demian and his team, we would never be able to save as many lives as we do.
They are one of only three clinics in the Cairns district who do our work at cost which allows us to recover, with adoption fees, all our costs to desex, microchip and vaccinate every animal we rescue. This team deserves recognition as they can pride themselves on being responsible for helping to save the lives of thousands of unwanted pets in this district every year.
We love dealing with them and feel their care and concern for our rescues is so genuine.

Dr. Sivula has helped many of our old and special needs hounds to feel better and live with less pain through chiropractic treatments. Vet tech, Stacy, is a wonderful canine massage therapist and makes senior Bam Bam feel so good. The center also donated a pulsed signal therapy machine so that we could administer pain relief at our Sanctuary.
