Animal rescues are different than sanctuaries. The animals they take in are meant to heal and be adopted into a loving home, except for those considered forever fosters.
A forever foster is an animal will medical needs that takes adoption off the table. This can sometimes be referred to as fospice care; a combination of foster and hospice.
Rescues take in forever fosters knowing that, in many cases, they’ll live years and can have a high quality of life during that time. So much of what makes this possible are the fosters and donors who step in to support the rescue in their efforts.
Forever fosters are often seniors, meaning they are low energy and can be easier to care for. These are the animals who are overlooked at animal shelters and are the first to be euthanized.
The homes committing to this mission will be the first to tell you how fulfilling it is. The love these animals give is unequalled and they’ll quickly become part of a family unit.
